La primavera e’ alle porte. Il tempo capriccioso alterna temporali improvvisi al primo sole caldo di stagione che fa subito sognare il mare.
Non abbiamo avuto tempo di togliere le pieghe dai vestiti che gia’ abbiamo dovuto salutare, con un po’ di nostalgia, la nostra casetta di Auckland. Il Fish and Chips non ci garantiva abbastanza ore di lavoro, siamo ritornati on the road. La verita’ e’ che l’ultimo giorno di lavoro mi sono vista costretta a friggere le ostriche e ho temuto di essere diseredata dalla mia famiglia :-). Pertanto fatti i bagagli ci siamo messi in moto sulla nostra casetta portatile ribattezzata Blue Spring come buon auspicio per la stagione imminente e come piccolo omaggio ad uno dei nostri film giapponesi preferiti.
Direzione: Tauranga (leggasi con pronuncia Kiwi ” Tayrona”), citta’ turistica che si affaccia sul mare della Bay of Plenty.


Se la Dea Bendata sembrava che in queste settimane ci avesse voltato le spalle, forse e’ stato proprio perche’ non ci fermassimo ad Auckland, forse voleva condurci proprio qui, in riva al mare.
Nel giro di un giorno abbiamo trovato lavoro, senza problemi di visti vari, in una piccola trattoria italiana (due minuti dalla spiaggia), io come aiuto cuoca e Paolo al servizio sala. La gestione e’ molto familiare, come piace a noi. I proprietari sono Lina e Gabriele, mezzo romano e mezzo Kiwi, con molte storie da raccontare.
Per ora si lavora solo alla sera in attesa dell’inizio della stagione turistica, quindi lunedi’, per arrotondare, dovremmo iniziare a lavorare nei campi alla potatura delle piantagioni di kiwi, con ragazzi da tutto il mondo tra cui molti sudamericani con cui poter tornare finalmente a parlare spagnolo.
Ma il mondo e’ piccolo, proprio molto, molto piccolo. Ieri abbiamo conosciuto uno dei ragazzi che forse lavorera’ con noi nei campi. Si chiama Alvaro ed e’ Cileno, ci racconta di aver conosciuto una coppia di italiani in Cile qualche mese fa con cui era diventato molto amico. La coppia in questione non sono altro che i due ragazzi riminesi, Nicoletta e Maurizio, con cui abbiamo condiviso in Sud America trekking, massaggi shiatsu e l’indimenticabile escursione nel Salar di Uyuni. Sono sicura che se Maurizio fosse qui direbbe che non e’ il caso che ci ha fatti incontrare con Alvaro, e io sono pienamente d’accordo con lui.
Oggi abbiamo ricevuto il primo stipendio neozelandese e ci siamo tolti la voglia di pizza da Pizza Hut, perche’ anche se la primavera e’ alle porte, purtroppo Le Rondini qui continuano a mancare :-)

  3. Ottimo raga. Qui a Queenstown, 1500km più a sud, ancora inverno pieno. Domani parto alla scoperta di Milford Sound, spero che le nuvole si tolgano magicamente di mezzo. Finger crossed.
