Salutata Bahia abbiamo raggiunto la regione del Pantanal, una zona del Brasile grande quasi quanto la Francia che, come dedurrete dal nome, per molta parte dell’anno e’ un gran pantano! Abbiamo deciso, per accorciare i tempi e visto i costi praticamente uguali, di evitarci tre giorni di pulman e di concederci il primo aereo per attraversare mezzo Brasile. E devo dire che e’ stato abbastanza strano ritrovare i comfort di un aereoporto e rivedere la gente in giacca, cravatta e portatile alla mano nello scalo effettuato a San Paolo. Il Pantanal ci e’ stato consigliato da parecchi amici, qui pare si possano vedere una miriade di animali con molta facilita`a differenza dell`Amazzonia dove si nascondo nell’intricata foresta. Ed effettivamente di animali ne abbiamo visti parecchi! La prima tappa e’ stato il paesino di Bonito, famoso per le acque dei suoi fiumi ricche di calcare e per questo letteralmente trasparenti. E’ stato impressionante fare il bagno. Immaginate di tuffarvi in un acquario e di trovarvi a nuotare faccia a faccia con numerosi pescioni…solo una volta in acqua ci siamo resi conto di quanto normalmente si abbia una visione sfalsata dalla luce e dal fondale quando ci si immerge in mare, qui sembrava che l’acqua non ci fosse proprio e ¡ pesci, di dimensioni notevoli, nuotavano tranquilli a fianco a noi come se niente fosse. 
Salutata Bonito dove ci siamo decisamente goduti i bagni rinfrescanti nei suoi acquari naturali e abbiamo potuto ammirare i primi animali della zona (anaconde, giaguari, pappagalli dai colori sgargianti….), ci siamo diretti a Corumba`, citta`al confine con la Bolivia, dove abbiamo acquistato un tour per una tre giorni all’interno del selvaggio Pantanal. Camere costruite su palafitte con alligatori che stazionavano al pian terreno ;-); 
nuotate nei fiumi pieni zeppi di piranha che abbiamo anche pescato e mangiato (non sono niente male!) ;
uccelli di ogni specie e dimensione, uno su tutti il tuiuiu’ simbolo del Pantal, meraviglioso nella sua eleganza ;
gite a cavallo in mezzo al pantano; la mascotte della fazenda, un buffissimo roditore chiamato capibara che si aggirava tranquillamente in mezzo a noi con particolare attrazione per i piedi di Pablo ;-) ;
giocate a carte con una simpaticissima coppia crucca/francese residenti a Dublino http://www.notre-tour-du-monde.info/; e purtroppo anche una marea di mosquito che mi hanno letteralmente torturata ;-(
Di animali ne abbiamo visti parecchi, abbiamo passato la Pasqua in compagnia di simpatici viaggiatori (appositamente eviterei di citare il nostro frugale pranzo di pasqua, visto che so perfettamente che voi avrete mangiato ben altro che riso e fagioli!), ma soprattutto abbiamo ammirato il fascino di questa emorme area selvaggia del Brasile che durante la stagione delle piogge e`praticamente sommersa e ora …
… ora abbiamo varcato il confine con la Bolivia, siamo in uno di quei classici paesini di frontiera grezzi e loschi in attesa di prendere domani il famigerato treno della morte che ci portera`fino a Santa Cruz. Felici di rimaneggiare il nostro spagnolo si incomincia a godere dell’attesissimo calo del costo della vita, altro che Brasile, amici, qui si che si spende veramente niente!
